Began 8pm - with otters

We established a party jar

23   people attended

Secretary’s report: the minutes of meeting 1001 were accepted & the minutes
of meeting 1002 were accepted as 'finally surpassing Scheherazade'

the Treasurer reported that we have money

there was no VP

The President reported that HeroCon is this weekend at the Doubletree


Announcements:
Glenn announced that memberships for World Fantasy Con are STILL sold out -
and then listed various future convention times in the farther future

[evil] Kevin announced that 'Yipe' issue zero is out and they registers
yipezine.com; comments or questions can be directed to
[email protected] he will be at the SJ Improv tomorrow night as
a presenter

Joni announced that her school missed he September issue of 'Shonen Jump'
and she would like to buy it for the library



Dave C announced that the Nimitz is getting repaired and 'thank you
Congress'

Lisa announced that 'Computer Week' stated that MySpace has switched to
solid state drives and her son works for the company supplying these drives


Reviews:
Glenn reviewed the Raider game as a pigeon flew along with one of the plays
[check YouTube] and the Raiders managed to beat the Eagles

Dave C reviewed 'The Tooth Fairy' by Graham Joyce as dark fantasy, very
peculiar & worth paperback price, reviewed 'Venture Brothers season 4' as
strange as usual; & reviewed the SYFY's retread of 'Voltron' as it gives new
meaning to the phrase 'limited animation' & avoid it

Joni reviewed 'Zombieland' as a warm, touching comedy, worth full price; &
reviewed 'Whip It' as fun - but the Silicon Valley Roller Girls were even
more fun & reviewed Mieville's 'City in the City' as literary - it could be
considered a mystery and is worth reading

Fred reviewed meeting APE as he went and had a very good time & bought a DVD
there called 'Zombie Christ' that was very funny and worth the $10 he paid

Carole reviewed the Pacific International Quilt Festival as n ice but not
exciting

Andy reviewed SYFY's revision of 'The Dunwich Horror' as 'this makes their
'Flash Gordon' look good' - he lost SAN points [and I recommended 'The
Ressurected' with Chris Sarandon as a good Cthulhu flick]

Dave G reviewed the weather as 'it rained a little bit' and flooded the
lobby of his work building

we did auctions:   books for $0.50, $0.50; $0.25, $0.25;  videos and CD for
$0.25; videos for $3.00, $3.50 & $0.25;  mixed media for $0.25 & toys for
$0.25

We adjourned at = 9:18

And the rumor of the week was: 'this renaming of the swine flu is brought to
you by the Pork Advisory Board'
