Or got her e-mail address from someone else's account, or from any
public source. It is discouragingly easy to forge headers on e-mail,
and pretend that it came from anybody the spammer likes, or sometimes
dislikes. Hence Joe jobs. Lots of spam claims to come from you to you.
If Richard saved the original e-mail, there are spam tracking sites
that can determine where it really came from. Some of us can give you
a likely source just from inspection of the headers.

I helped organize CAUCE.org to lobby for anti-spam laws more than a
decade ago, but then left to work on global poverty.
