weeks. There may be a BASFA party at FC. // Hugo nominations are open,
download form from the A4 site. Lots of recommendation lists out already.

Dave C: Musical comedy about Addams Family in NY starring Nathan Lane and
B.B. Neuwirth.

Julie: Announced useless, out-of-date coupons for the Trek exhibit.

Adrienne: Reminder of Antoinette Bay signing on Saturday the 23rd at 1pm at
British Bankers Club.

Glenn: Smofcon 28 at St. Claire in SJ, first wkend in Dec. // Avenue Q
coming for one week. Contact Glenn for a group go.

Carol: Going to a wedding in Amsterdam: Ilana Gruen. Card to be signed if
we like.

Reviews:

Julie: "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. Wishes she could have written
it. Story of the building of a cathedral. Well written, but has composite
characters that are not so believeable. // "Starting your own business"
hilarious because she found it in the Sunnyvale library but is for
Commonwealth countries.

Glenn: Mike & Karen's party: Great conversations and a good time all
around.
Carol: Usual good time. Duck went fast.
Dave C: Thanked Mike & Karen for awesome ice ring around the room
Dave & Spring's party: Had a very good time, was amazed at how fast a three
liter bottle of Acacia pinot noir went. Talked to lots of folks and played
some games.
Andy: Show up ontime as parking hard afterwards. Highlight: edible
adipose. All and all, a good.
Stellan: praised the wine and the carrot cake.
Dave G: semi-mundane co-workers even enjoyed it, thanked everyone for
coming.
Avatar: Pity we can't have cutting edge effects AND a great plot.
Mentioned how it the process depicted is the culmination of what Second Life
is trying to achieve.
Ken: inflated prices at IMAX throws box office numbers off.
Carol: Saw it at the Mercado. Should have been a summer flick. How many
stories did Cameron steal from?
Adrienne: visually stunning, but OMG the script. Thought of it as a
Western. Swiping Pern as well.

Adrienne: Dr. Who has regenerated again. Drowned out in a chorus of "No
Spoilers!"
Andy: Second half wrapped up more loose ends than he thought it would and
more enjoyably than he thought.
Julie: Totally lacked pacing or ticking clocks. Not worth it if you
aren't already a Who fan.

Ken: Hamlet. He dies at the end. David Tennant and Sir Patrick. Done in
modern dress. Definitely worth the unabridged three hours. Many follow-ons
about Hamlet the musical.

Stellen: going to the gym for the first time in the new year was less
crowded than expected.

Many things were auctioned and a number of them were prefaced by comments
about the objects. Dave C was auctioned for six United States dollars.

Rumors:
Avatar will be known as the cinematic icon of the oughties.
--> Love to eat them Adipose / Adipose what I love to eat / Bite they
little heads off / Nibble on they tiny feet
We will still be reviewing Avatar at meeting 2000.
Will that be the musical version?
  Pause for the secretary.

Adjourned at 2137.
