Subject: [savs-announce] Save the date ~ Patience,
or Bunthorne's Bride at The GSB Bowl 5/17-18

Graphic Design by Jennifer Medeiros.

Sci fi fandom and cosplay are satirized in Patience, a fully staged and
orchestrated entertainment including lyrics and costumes inspired by multiple
incarnations of Star Trek and Doctor Who. Bunthorne (a Spock fan), is
worshipped by all the young ladies cosplay dressing to gain his attention, yet
he holds an unrequited love for Patience. A rival Doctor Who fan, Grosvenor
(11th Doctor), falls in love with her, too, but who will ultimately win her
heart?

The following are performance dates for this very clever adaptation of Patience
by Director Doreen Finkelstein and Music Director Greg Anderson:

Saturday, May 17th at 8pm
Sunday, May 18th at 2pm
Sunday, May 18th at 8pm

Aptly being performed ‘under the stars’ at The Bowl, an amphitheater at the
Stanford Graduate School of Business, the production should feel like a fandom
convention as we invite all audience members to come in Star Trek and Doctor
Who costumes! To sweeten the deal, when you participate in our cosplay fun,
just stop by the concession table during intermission for a complimentary treat
(while supplies last).

Tickets will be available soon through the Stanford Ticket Office. We’ll send
out information and post links on our website’s home page as soon as they’re
available.

Patience Trivia and Meet the Cast & Staff

To quote Bunthorne: "It is the wail of the fanfic writer's heart on discovering
that everything is commonplace. To understand it, cling passionately to one
another and think of Original Series, Season 1, Episode 24."

Our newest foray into science fiction-themed G&S features Johnny Villar
debuting with the Savoyards in the role of Bunthorne.

Johnny is a Theatre Arts graduate from Notre Dame de Namur University in
Belmont, where he recently starred in the title role of Moliere’s The
Misanthrope. Other notable roles include Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol,
Renfield in Dracula, and Feste the Fool in Twelfth Night, all at NDNU, as well
as Guildenstern in The Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company’s summer 2013
production of Hamlet. His short silent film, The Count’s Daughter, won the
Portland Center Stage award for “Best Acting” in the 2013 International Youth
Silent Film Festival.

Accomplishing the galactic task of costuming Patience is a dedicated team under
the direction of Lisa Lutkenhouse Lowe.

Lisa has been designing theatrical costumes since 2005, when she designed
Iolanthe for the Stanford Savoyards. She also costumed our Anime Mikado,
Steampunk Zoo and Revue, and Firefly-themed Browncoats of Penzance, which Lisa
also stage directed. She designed Lyric Theatre’s Edward Gorey-themed
Ruddigore, a Bollywood Sorcerer, Rose of Persia, Kismet,Yeoman of the Guard,
The Gondoliers, and The Grand Duke. Most recently Lisa designed Tosca for West
Bay Opera, where she also supervises their costume shop and manages costume
rentals. Non-opera projects include designs for Word for Word, Theatre
Rhinoceros, Stage 1 Theatre, Berkeley Playhouse, and Boxcar Theatre.
