I could use some help for my booth at Maker Faire next weekend if anyone is available . I can send you a comp ticket if you can help. Also they are short on volunteers for the "learn to solder" - both links below. Thanks!
~Elise Silicon Valley Engineering Council is once again hosting a booth at the annual Maker Faire in San Mateo May 17-18. Please help! We need volunteers to staff the booth.. Volunteering includes a ticket to Maker Faire by email (for which you may arrive at any time during the day you are working, not just when you are scheduled). Volunteer with us here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4DAEA62FA4F49-volunteer Additional volunteers are needed at the "learn soldering" booth. Experience not required. To sign up see: http://snipurl.com/28waenw (For the question, "How did you hear about this opportunity?" please answer "SVEC") At the SVEC booth we'll be demonstrating Infrared Thermography as well as making machines from paper clips - see: http://www.instructables.com/id/Building-Machines-From-Paperclips/.) Maker Faire combines the best of Burning Man's sizzling creativity with the hottest creations of the DIY community and serves it all up in a dazzling two-day event guaranteed to engage every member of the family. Now in its eighth year, Maker Faire Bay Area runs May 17-18 at the San Mateo County Event Center and will host some 100,000 visitors as they learn from and play with over 900 makers, crafters, engineers, vendors, and artists who come from all over the country to exhibit their particular brand of genius. Produced by MAKE Magazine and O'Reilly Media, Maker Faire's geek culture flourishes with droids, DIY kits by kids for kids, and mobile land sharks roaming in the dark. None of this would be complete without rockets, bikes, food, and a huge children's area for young dreamers and makers. To purchase tickets (instead of volunteering) or for more information, see:http://makerfaire.com/ Public Parking: During Maker Faire (Sat & Sun), parking at the Event Center is $20.00 per car per day. On Friday, there is free parking at the Fairgrounds for setup. On Saturday and Sunday there is free parking remotely, but you must take the free shuttle to the fairgrounds. Please try to leave extra time for parking and locating our booth which can be a little tricky. For more information on parking or how to get to MakerFaire, please see the transportation page: http://makerfaire.com/bayarea-2013/getting-to-maker-faire/
