Announcements
Lisa: Stephen Furst passed due to diabetes complications.
Yochanon: SV Shakespeare Troupe is performing at Willow Street Park: The Real
Merry Housewives of Windsor. Free. They’ll be doing an all female Hamlet at
Sanborn Park in July (paid). Sherlock Holmes and the Suicide Club in August. SF
Free Shakespeare in Pleasanton and Cupertino with Hamlet. [Gayle followed on
with SVShakes is really good]
JC: Nerdvana podcast has been silent recently, but is planning a relaunch for
their 5th anniversary this summer. Includes a revamp of the website.
Pat: Sacramento ComicCon, Oct 8th, at the Sac Convention Center. Usually the
same weekend as the Greek Food Festival (they let in ComicCon attendees for
free).
JohnO: July 8th will be having an anniversary party at JC & Beth’s house.
Reviews
Carole: Bill and her celebrated their 17th anniversary on the 17th by going to
Manresa in Los Gatos. Good meal, but wouldn’t wax poetic. One dish was a fail,
others that were nice - but expected better (for a 3star restaurant). Nice time
on a 3-hour tour... Did a tasting menu, and they were attentive to allergy
needs. May go back.
Yochanon:
FanimeCon/Clockwork Alchemy. Has a good time. Enjoyed the shuttle between the
two conventions. Liked Fanime’s swap meet - better deals than the dealer’s
room. Had a good time. Sad to hear that Clockwork will be on a different day
next year. [There was follow one about pricing for next year’s cons]
The Real Merry Housewives of Windsor. Fun. Incorporated modern items like
phones. Would have paid to see it!
Pat: Just saw GotG2. One of the trailers was for Thor: Ragnarock. Looks really
good.
JohnO: Almost done with the core Hugo reading. Finished the short stories. It’s
a tough year, as they’re all really good for different reasons (except the
JCWright) The Melville story was poorly watermarked and chopped. A City Born
Great by MK Jemisin is his top recommendation.
Gayle: Sunday afternoon her and Gerald went to the Lyric for a double header
with Gianni Schicchi (Puccini) and G&S’ Trial by Jury - funny and good music.
Ken: He and Jerry went to see the Palo Alto Player’s production of The
Graduate. Takes the best of the book and the film with some added bits. Mrs.
Robinson was last year’s Morticial Addams! Highly recommends. Check their
FaceBook for ticket deals.
An auction was held.
Meeting adjourned at: 21:16
and the rumor of the week was: Be weary: Mo is armed.
All errors (c) 2017 the BASFA VP, the rest of it is the club’s property...
