Reviews

Adrienne
The “lost” Doctor Who story Shada was on BBCAmerica last week. Liked it, with
reservations. One of Douglas Adams’ better stories. Didn’t like how Romana was
handled. Worth watching.
Lisa was glad to see it too. Animation filled in nicely.

JohnO
Watched FBI Agent Strzok’s appearance at the judiciary committee. The chair
abused his position with any dissent on the panel. Thanks to BASFA and WSFS for
his understanding of procedure.
DaveC. Became more appalling when the representatives stopped asking questions
and instead berated him.

Vikas
Went to a SETI talk at SRI. Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality in space. Unity
3-D demo on Virtual Reality of the International Space Station. Really cool.
JerryP. The NASA visitor center has a section of International Space Statio you
can walk through. WorldCon76 attendees can see this on the Inner Loop tour.
(ask for Babs)

Gayle
Hugo finalist reading. Children of Thorns, Children of Water by Aliette de
Bodard - a Dominion of the Fallen story. May have been less puzzled if she’d
seen that. Fantasy isn’t her preferred genre. It was confusing. Strange nominee
for novelette. Difficult to follow.
Adrienne. Author is a favorite in the community, nominated frequently for
awards.

Ric
Dirk Gently, had trouble getting into it the first time. Is enjoying it now.
It’s all interconnected. Recommends.
Saw Annihilation. Loved the book, All the things he loved in the book were
dropped from the film. Still enjoyed it (directed by guy who did Ex Machina).
No one has names, but referred by their roles - but are named in the film.
Doubts the sequel books would be made int films

Mo
B5 was a guilty pleasure, and has been reviewing the series. Subtle and hokey.
Noticing other parts, and how it’s timely now. Would recommend watching again.
Plenty of follows on…

DaveC
Jonathan Howard’s Johannas Cabal: The Fear Institute. Journey through the Dream
Land (the lighter side of Lovecraft) to vanquish fear.
