On the one hand, I'm glad to hear that. On the other, what's notably
missing is any statement _from_ Mr. Brooks, only from people including
the redoubtable Tawny Newsome trotting out reasons to suppose Mr. Brooks
is "cool with" the script.

At which point, I'm all out of hands (making typing a chore), but, on my
figurative third hand, that's between Brooks and the network. On the
figuurative fourth hand, no television character since Hopalong Cassidy
has been the property of the actor in question. Actor William Boyd
owned the IP (having sold and mortgaged everything to buy it in the late
'40s), so Hopalong remained exactly what he wanted. Other actors can
like or dislike their characters' story lines, but have zero say.

So, maybe Paramount said to Brooks "Hey, we have this script where we
want to break our word to you from 1999 about Sisko's fate. Are you
totally fine with that?" And he said "Sure, no problem, sounds great."

If Brooks told us that, I'd believe him. With Paramount and its
employees (including Newsome) not saying even that, but rather poking
around the edges of the subject, I'll take the notion under advisement.
