Actually, we generally set the "message dispatched" ack, because all
the system delays happened at that point (MPE's pervasive philosophy
is not to attempt anything until all resources are allocated, all
error conditions checked, and all indications of succes are sure).  So
when you sent out time-sensitive mail and it didn't arrive, you could
almost always find it waiting on your machine for some blockage or
other, somewhere down the line, to clear.

This is, of course, mailer debugging, which users shouldn't have to
do.  Dammit.
