This *must* be a FAQ but I have not come up with an answer by perusing the
list archive, quering google, bug archives, ... so here it goes.

I have been using bbdb, combined with vm, for a few years under Debian with
both GNU Emacs and XEmacs in the last few years. The recent upgrades to 2.0*
and 2.2 have broken my setup, and I have yet to get something working back.

I tried various combinations of

        (bbdb-insinuate-vm) in ~/.vm
        (bbdb-initialize "vm") in ~/.vm or ~/.emacs

along with other tricks like not calling any other mail related package (like
mailcrypt), but to no avail. Could some kind soul help me with a working
pair of ~/.vm and ~/.emacs snippets or files?

The versions I am using (with Debian's "testing" package set) are
bbdb_2.2-1 along with xemacs21-{bin,nomule,support}_21.1.10-5.

Many thanks, Dirk
