So has anyone turned on an ethernet snooper - ethereal - to see what ports and daemons are in use? Search transactions for a known BBEdit serial code to start with. The first software that looked for networked copies used LocalTalk but for OS neXt I very much doubt it. How about a port scan using some hacking software with BBEdit in run and not run mode? How about a 4PST switch on the ethernet connection? There are relays available that use USB to control them. I have been trying to use BBEdit worksheets to control a shell running on a Linux box. It's not so simple as redirecting the pipes because they seem to be created by forking. Does ordinary BBEdit fork a process that acts like a daemon hooked to a port. If so it might be easy to kill the daemon or break its connection to the port. This could be phun if we get together. In any case it would be more productive that listening to personal attacks. -- --> Life begins at ovulation.
