So if a copy of BBEdit is idle, don't include it in the nag logic.

1) How long do you set the idle parameter for-a second, a minute, five minutes?

I'd say more like 30 minutes or an hour. In fact, in nearly ever case, an idle time of 24 hours would have worked just fine for me :)

Isn't it also a matter not just when one computer goes idle, but when another becomes active? That complicates the logic, and I think is why the time intervals suggested above vary so widely.

it still doesn't remember what size I like default windows to be. I submitted my window size feature request quietly and it was acknowledged nicely by Bare Bones and never acted upon. That's fine; I don't mind. I don't expect them to bend to my every desire.

You know that windows are fully scriptable. I wrote a script that makes my BBEdit windows all the same height, taking into account the height of my preferred font and adjusting the height for an integral multiple of lines. You could do something like that.

Show me where it says that if you run BBEdit on three machines, every running instance will be rendered unusable by a nag box that pops up whenever you do anything and refuses to be dismissed for 5 or more seconds.

What sort of window is it? I haven't seen it. Is it a modal dialog? Sheet? Perhaps a windoid a-la Eudora's ad-supported mode would be better?

I find that a lot of people in other groups in my own institution still think that BBEdit Lite is what they should be using (they never heard of TextWrangler), and when you tell them about TextWrangler, it doesn't stick in their brain, because it doesn't sound like a product they've ever heard of or would want to use (same with Yojimbo, both very silly names). I think if Barebones had stuck with calling the free version of BBEdit "BBEdit Lite" and had marketed it more, people would know about it and be using it (like: "Hey, have you tried the new BBEdit Lite 8.0?" instead of "what the hell is this TextWrangler thing?").

I can no longer remember, but didn't they have different feature sets? If TW lacked a feature BBEL had, it would be bad to call it BBEL.
