I need some sample text on the system clipboard that can have any of the three line ends. It's for testing code that will not run under BBEdit. The code being tested uses /usr/bin/pbpaste right now but may move to something out of the Cocoa framework later.
So I created a BBEdit document and scribbled in some text. I select all of the text and do an Edit_Copy. I then execute my code with a command from a BBEdit worksheet. I try three ways with DOS, Mac, and UNIX line ends selected using the box at the top of the edit window that allows such selections. The output from my debugging code is consistent with a theory that BBEdit never puts those DOS line ends onto the clipboard. Can that be true? Are the line ends always the same on the clipboard and changed only when a file is saved to disk? Is there any way to show invisibles in BBEdit that would indicate the actual line ends in vogue? -- --> The U. S. Census Bureau missed a bet by not counting all of those embryos in cold storage. <-- -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Have a feature request?
