That's because there is none such. :-) If desired you can use the
"Quick Search" command (Cmd-Opt-F is the factory default) to open
the drawer.
I think the preference search function is great, but not having the
search function visible by default seems like a mistake to me. After
using it once, I forgot it was there a week later and did my pre-8.5
dance through each pref section to find what I was looking for.
Making features accessible is as important as building them in the
first place. The "show drawer" icon doesn't mean "let me search" to me.
