I think code folding will be in a state of flux for the
coming months,
with BareBones looking for feedback on where to fold, and what to
include. No folding support in Java is a strong indication of that
IMHO.
That's essentially correct.
During development, the question came up: "Do we really want to
generate fold points for every damn brace? :-)" There are
upsides and downsides to generating fold points in the gutter
for every possibly foldable construct, but we elected to be
conservative and keep the fold gutter as uncluttered as we
reasonably could, collect customer feedback, and go forward from there.
As to Java, yes: the Java language module is long overdue for a
rewrite to address some of its long-standing shortcomings and
add requested features (and some new basics, like folding). I
plan to attack this pretty soon (unless someone beats me to it ;-)).

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they
sedate me.
