I have been using 8.2 for 2 months before my upgrade this weekend to
8.5. Nothing else on my system has changed.
8.5 on OSX 10.4.7, Dual 2.0GHz PowerPc, 1.5GB Ram.
Performance :
Unfortunately when opening a file from the mounted smb volume, it
takes seconds to get to a directory and then many more seconds later,
the actual small icons load next to the files that are in each
directory. Searching for a file 5 nested folders deep can take up to
a minute to get to. Doing the exact same operations through the
Finder is nearly instantaneous.
Crash :
I will then create a new file in the directory ( outside of
BBEdit ) , and then Command-O to browse to find it, and the browser
does the spinning ball of death . . .and will come back in 10 or 15
seconds and be able to open the file in some cases, or in some
instances completely crash. This is unfortunate as I have never
crashed BBEdit 8.2, and seem to have no problems crashing 8.5 ( at
least 2 times a day ).
Are there any known issues with performance or stability with network
mounted volume browsing from within the Open File browser??
Thanks.
