I think I may have misstated my desire.

I realize that bbedit allows you specify the opening of files into either a "new window" or the "front window".

As far as I can tell however, it is not able to decide which of windows to use based on the "number" of files I open at once.

for example:

ie ... If i set the bbedit preference to open all files from other apps into the front window's drawer ... it does just that, but there are times I do not want externally opened files to go into my front window ... and its always related to how many files I am opening at once.

If i open 1 file at a time, either from my finder or from an external app, I'd like BBedit to open this file in its own window.

If i open 2 or more files in a single action, I wish (always) for those 2 or more files to get opened into a new window and its drawer.

Does that distinction make any sense? And is bbedit able to differentiate between the two?

Thanks for thinking about it :)

As a side note, I'm also looking for the ability to collect all open windows into the front windows drawer.

Works for me.

I select 2 or more files, hit Command J and the files open in the same BBEdit Text Window/Drawer. If I then select two additional files they end up in the same window/drawer.

I'm using 8.5.1b2.
