Coming from Dreamweaver, I'm finding it hard to understand what
BBEdit's Web Site Preferences does. To me, if you define a web site in
the Prefs dialog box, there should be an easy way to access your list
of sites from within BBEdit. A file group wouldn't be it because the
lists of files are static--if you add another file via the finder, it's
not updated in the File Group. So that leaves the Disk Browser, but I
see no easy way of creating a reference to the site folder within
BBEdit.
I've always played with this program throughout the years but little
things like that always sent me back to Dreamweaver because it's
intuitive in a lot of respects: create a site...enter site
details...then choose from a pop-up list of predefined sites. Tada,
nice and simple. Now, I'm no newbie when it comes to web stuff. I've
been using Dreamweaver and have served on Beta programs but I've
hard-coded most of my stuff so it's not like I'm dependent on a click
and point GUI. But I think BBEdit could do a better job of making
disparate parts more cohesive.
