Fugu does include scp, but it appears to be purely as a file copy mechanism,

Unless I'm mistaken, that's all scp is. Secure copy. It doesn't do browsing, only copying from one location to another.

I was always under the impression that sftp is more related to ssh than ftp. Obviously you can have ssh without ftp (and vice-versa), but can you have ssh without sftp and scp?

As I just read on The Internets:
cat LOCALFILE | ssh REMOTEHOST cat \>REMOTEFILE
ssh REMOTEHOST cat REMOTEFILE >LOCALFILE Both replicate scp functionality without using scp. So its pointless to not have scp if you have ssh. I always thought sftp was the same way but I could be wrong. In other words, if ssh is turned on, are you sure you can't use sftp?

Like I said, I could be wrong about this. Either way, I'm interested to hear the answer.
