You are right! It helped! When I changed those settings to
a visible directory, the error disappeared!

This seems to be a new problem in BBEDIT 8.6.
I tested with BBEDIT 8.5.2, and then I did not get
this error, even before I had changed the Text Files->
Backup prefs.
