Ok, I can live with that. I want to reduce the number of open views. What I am asking for is not to open the document in two different views (with similar functionality). No, just open it in one view which has the combined functionality of Disk Browser(e.g. ability to navigate directories and open files by clicking on it) and Document Drawer(e.g. ability to edit files, files keep their state like split window position and scroll position, click on arrows in the horizontal navigation bar to go to the backward/forward to the last viewed document, etc.). It seems to me you could drop Document Drawer altogether if you put its functionality in Disk Browser... one less view to clutter things up.
