Have you tried an AppleScript to change the line ending characters in the clipboard contents?
First, I do not want to further complicate my workflow by adding handcrafted minitools etc. After some time you tend to forget they exist and then wonder where some unwanted behaviour comes from. Second, the cut or better copied text goes into the cut&paste buffer of the X11 environment since it will be pasted into the X11 GUI of a unix app.(middle mouse button you know...)

Try using a BBEdit worksheet. I regularly copy and paste from those into Terminal windows that are ssh'd or telneted to UNIX boxes.
Cut and paste into a ssh'd terminal window is no problem. Even xterms can handle this situation. But the X11 GUI of Astro (place&route tool) can NOT. It worked in pre 8.something versions of BBedit I remember. And really I want that behaviour back!!! But if I'm the only one having that problem...?
Well, "hope is the last thing to die" is a proverb here in Germany...
