I asked about this before: when I click and hold either arror in a
scroll-bar, the first 8 (or so) lines scroll fairly slowly, and then
the scroll rate hugely accelerates to over 150 lines/second. Too
fast to count, too fast to control. Note that this doesn't happen
with other apps, only BBEdit (that I know of).
When I asked before, I was directed to System Preferences,
Keyboard&Mouse, Mouse, for the scrolling speed.
In my system (10.4.9) there is no such control under Keyboard or
Mouse. Under Mouse there are 3 controls, tracking speed, double-click
speed, and primary button.
Searching Preferences help for "scroll" I find this: "Scrolling
Options: sets how the scroll ball behaves in windows and lists. Use
the slider to adjust how quickly the pointer moves when you scroll."
Unfortunately it is under the heading "To customize your Mighty Mouse."
I don't have a Mighty Mouse, I have a Kensington Trackball. (The
Kensington Mouseworks prefpane doesn't offer any scrolling speed
option either.) I've gone through all 3rd-party prefpanes looking for
anything related, and killed some like SmartScroll that might have
affected this. No change.
Is there any OTHER way to control the rate at which BBEdit scrolls
when the mouse is held down in the scroll arrow?
Thanks for any advice.
