Maybe a better description of what you're really wanting to
achieve would help. I suggest either using a shell script (via
BBEdit's UNix Filters) or use AppleScript (via BBEdit's
scripting interface).
You are combining shell scripting and AppleScript and it's too
convoluted for me to work out what you're really wanting to do.
