It's been a while (maybe a year) since I attempted to use my LaTeX
clippings. This included an upgrade to Snow Leopard.

When I tried to use the LaTeX.tex folder, I discovered that it had
been turned into a bundle: It appears in the Finder as a document
(containing my clippings). Get Info shows it is of the "tex" kind, and
Open With shows it is claimed by TeXShow (default), Excalibur,
LaTeXiT, and TextMate. BBEdit doesn't recognize the "bundle" as a
clippings folder.

(The default application for .tex files is shown as Numbers, BTW.)

Attempting to rebuild the Launch Services database didn't appear to do
anything, but I could believe I didn't do that correctly. I had
thought there was a command-line tool that would explain how a
particular file was claimed, but I don't find it.

What has happened, and what can I do to stop it?
