I have had this issue recently myself and asked this group, without 
getting an answer. This issue has nothing to do with your Snow Leopard. 
I have had this problem too on OS 10.5

Solution is very simple: remove the extension ".tex" of 
~/Library/Application Support/BBEdit/Clippings/LaTeX Glossary.tex
