The documents drawer gives you a concise list of the documents opening  
for editing in that particular window. (This is often, but not always,  
a subset of files in the project, and often provides a more concise  
and convenient way to access them.)

If the drawer is wasted space for your usage model, you can work with  
it closed, and use the navigation bar to switch between open documents.
