Today it is impossible to say. We're hoping that the Mac App
Store will evolve to offer an upgrade-pricing model by the time
we need to face the issue. (Today, all of the Mac App Store
purchasers of BBEdit 9.6.3 were within the free-upgrade window.)
If there's an upgrade model available when our next paid upgrade
is ready, great - if not, we'll figure out some way to cope. :-)
