Remembering the state of a document including its size and position is expected behavior in BBEdit. If you are not seeing it, then I don't know why.

Nor do I, but it's not working reliably at all. Size is remembered but not always position, and behaviour is different if you close and reopen a text document from what happens when you quit and reaunch.

It is also not normal Mac behaviour to have new windows superimposed on each other, which is what is happening at the moment. The manual says they should be cascaded and so they should.

Remember to save the document before closing it, even if you have not changed any content because saving includes the window state, cursor location, etc.

I beg to differ. It is up to the app to do the remembering when you close the window or quit. I can't think of a single other application that does not do so and has not always done so, including previous versions of BBE. Something very basic has been got wrong here and needs urgent attention.
