I'm running into the same thing on v10.1, except the sheets only refuse to go away on my Mac Pro; it's working fine on my MacBook. Or rather, whatever setting I did long ago for v9 is still functioning there, but not on the Mac Pro. All machines have all the latest OS updates.
Amusingly, *defaults read com.barebones.bbedit FindDialog_ShowReplaceResults * returns NO on the desktop and 1 on the MacBook. Urrg? I tried setting it to 1 (as well as 0 and NO) on the desktop but it had no effect.
