Just deselect the highlighted document in that pane, then no
document will be highlighted. It will stay that way until you
change it. You can also collapse the Project pane so you're not
seeing highlighted documents there.
Maybe it's a personal preference; I wouldn't want *my* selection
to keep changing simply because I'm working on a different open
document; especially since the Open Documents pane already tells
me what the active document is.
And thinking logically; what should the project pane display if
you open a document in that window which isn't included in the
project list? Should the document get added to the project
simply so it can be highlighted in that list?
