Hmm, maybe I'm having a related problem. Rather than SteerMouse
I use USBOverdrive, and rather than double-click; my
triple-click isn't working. The problem is restricted to just
BBEdit, but I thought it was problem with USBOverdrive. Maybe
it's a change in how mouse clicks are handled.
This probably warrants a bug report.
