Lee, good question. Well, at first I didn't see *any* notification after a Search and Replace, but then I figured that I had tried the expert pref setting that Tom Robinson mentions in this thread (which didn't seem to make a difference). Setting the bool in the expert pref command to YES indeed made the little alert at the top of the document reappear.
