Hi Christopher. sorry to take so long to answer but I've been recuperating from the flu/chest cold.
I rebooted my computer and deleted the preferences file (printed them out first so I could easily reset them) and deleted the preferences, closed and restarted bbedit and set up preferences (had to reinstall the serial # too), however it's still taking about 16 seconds after saving before I can do anything else (locks up the whole computer) . No I haven't tried the beta yet. Would that take care of the problem.
