In case anyone else has this issue... I could not get BBEdit 10.5.5 to update on its own to 10.5.6 (it kept saying I had the latest version even when 10.5.6 was out). So I downloaded it manually and installed. Then yesterday when my system was update to OS X 10.9.1, BBEdit decided it wanted to update to 10.5.6! Even though it already was... So it downloaded and installed it again. Could be something wonky with Software Update either in 10.9 OS or in BBEdit 10.5.5 (or both).
