I finally bought the bullet and upgraded from BBEdit 9.6.3 to the latest version because 9.6.3 wasn't working well with Yosemite. The only reason I hesitated all this time was because I was used to the old modal Find feature and up through that version there was a setting to continue using it. But that was lost from version 10.
Anyway, I have a few questions I can't find the answer to in the manual: 1. In the previous version, if I double clicked on a balance character, like a curly bracket, it would find the balancing bracket (or beep if there wasn't one). However in the previous version, after double-clicking the brackets would be *included* in the selected text. That is convenient if you want to then move the section elsewhere. However, in the current version, after double-clicking a bracket, the selected text *no longer includes* the balanced brackets! Just the content in-between. Is there some setting I can change to have it include the brackets when double-clicking? 2. In the View Menu there are also Balance and Balance & Fold options. Both seem to do the exact same thing. That is, it is the same as double-clicking, except you don't have to double-click one of the surrounding brackets. No "folding" takes place when trying the Balance & Fold option. What is supposed to be the difference between those two options? The manual says for the Balance & Fold option "BBEdit will also generate a fold range." What does that mean? Nothing appears to be different. 3. Getting back to the (sigh) Find functionality I miss, in the new non-modal Find dialog it drives me crazy that I can't easily "search from the top." Sometimes I want to search from the current position to the bottom of the text. Sometimes I want to search from the top of the text. I had been using CMD+T for years to toggle between the two. I realize I can "wrap" but it's not the same thing. Is there any way at all of setting whether to search from the top or not (and not wrap) other than to manually go to the top of the file?
