Hi people. Thanks for the replies. I didn't get email notifications of any of them, but accidentally noticed them just now.
The CMD+up arrow followed by search is the easiest. But of course one doesn't want to lose the current insert point if nothing is found, which is what would happen in that case. Anyway, I'll look at some of the script solutions recommended. I also got some helpful responses from Barebones support regarding jump points. I'll probably end up using those - but it is more steps than the old search. It's too bad that simple functionality disappeared. I don't quite understand why it isn't possible with non-modal search dialogs. But I needed to upgrade because 9.6.3 doesn't seem to work well in Yosemite (lots of key lag). I don't mind paying for an upgrade every few years, and BBEdit is a fine, well-supported product, and vital for my daily work.
