I often have to inspect/edit really big files (e.g. IC-Layout data) which reside on volumes mounted as smbfs. When I save/close the file (even if I choose "don't save") I see the rainbow pizza forever making it impossible to work on. All I can do, is force quit BBEdit. But when I restart, BBEdit will even reopen the big file which again I cannot close without the blocking pizza.
This behavior is REALLY annoying and forces me to use good old "vi"...... Is there a way to force close a file which needs NOT to be saved without any background work lasting forever? Is there a way to start BBEdit _WITHOUT_ reopening files that were open at force quit time (don't want to disable this globally)? Holding the cmd key at start brings up a dialog. But BBEdit reopens the big file anyway. Any help MUCH appreciated Regards Armin -- This is the BBEdit Talk public discussion group.
