Same here - BBEdit never showed an update was available. Monitoring in Little Snitch it seemed like BBEdit never actually hit the network, so 'Check for Updates' was essentially doing nothing.

When you have a situation in which the software doesn't behave as you think it should, please write to support: <[email protected]>. "Me too" doesn't really help narrow things down. :-)

Manually updated to 11.6 and now I get the message "*Software Update Check Failed: An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.*". I am running the 10.12 beta, so perhaps that is the cause (maybe because of the NSURLConnection TLS version restrictions?)

Since (a) this appears to be behaving correctly on current release OS versions (10.11.6), and (2) you're using a beta version of the OS that can be fixed before it ships, please file a bug report with Apple. They will follow up with us as necessary. (Apple engineering doesn't sift the BBEdit-Talk list for bug reports.)

Thanks,

R.

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they sedate me.
