Yes, that would work. But it's not the same as being able to invoke `bbedit` while in a shell __on the remote host__. `rbbedit` works on the remote host. It's a convenience utility.

In fact, that's what `rbbedit` does (by default), it uses `bbedit` to open file via sftp. There are multiple options for `copy-method` that `rbbedit` supports.
