Hmm, I use BBEdit to edit files on servers all the time. The only caveat to 
doing this is that for any file you have on both your dev machine and on 
the server, any changes you make on the server copy must be duplicated on 
the copy on your dev machine. Failure to do this may result in server-only 
changes being overwritten the next time you upload files from your dev 
machine.
