I have Debian running on a number of SPARC systems. In fact, an Ultra1 is currently handling mail relaying and virus filtering for ai.mit.edu and csail.mit.edu. See http://www.debian.org/ports/sparc/ Note that most userland stuff runs in 32 bit mode, but if you really need 64 bit support, you can build the applications where you need it yourself. For the most part, there's little benefit, which is why Debian uses mostly 32 bit userland. noah -- Noah Meyerhans System Administrator MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory
