For at least the last year (and maybe even almost the last two years),
BBLISA has been having regular meetings. During that time, we've had
some very good speakers. The web site wasn't always up-to-date, but the
announcements always went out at least a week in advance.
Despite all this, our average attendance seems to hold steady at around
a dozen. Sure, there have been nights when more people showed up (like
January 2002 for Permabit, and last night for Spirent) -- but there have
also been nights when we've had as few as six people.
So what can we do to increase attendance? Specifically, why don't people
come to the meetings now? The location? The topics/speakers? Apathy? The
web site not being kept up-to-date? Meetings not being announced far
enough in advance?
Please take a few minutes and tell me why you don't come. And please,
*pretty please*, reply DIRECTLY TO ME and DO NOT send a copy to the
whole list. If folks want to see the results, let me know and I'll send
them to you or post them. (I will post the results to bblisa-admin
and make the full replies available if anyone on that list wants them.)
I'd really like to increase our attendance -- doubling it would be nice
and filling the room every month would be even better. So please tell me
what can be done.
Thanks,
AdamM
P.S. - As I said at the meeting last night, the admin "gang" could sure
use some help in booking future speakers, starting with the
November meeting. If you're interested in helping out, please let
me know.
