It depends what you're looking for from a registrar IMO. Do you just want the domain and you'll run the NS? Do you want someone to host the NS for you (ie: phantom primary)? Do you want someone to do managed hosting of either the NS or a whole NS/web/email/etc system? I currently go through http://www.alienwebshop.com/domains/ for anything personal, mostly because it's run by a friend of mine, but the domains are a reasonable price ($15) and service is good. They resell TuCows registration. I've also had good experience with DirectNIC at my last job. From both of those places, we only registered the domains but did all the hosting ourselves.
