1. It probably won't help but you can try the 2.6.18_rc versions.
The netdev git repo always has the latest version.

2. Ethereal might help debug the AP returning a result code of 1,
but probably won't help otherwise.  Your problem is most likely due
to the TX power issues we have on the 4318 and newer cards.

3. From your last message, I got the exact core revisions, etc.  I
have the same card with the same revisions of all cores in my Power
Book as an Airport Extreme.  For some usage info, at my parent's
house, where there is only my AP, I can always connect, even from a
few rooms away.  In my apartment, where there are lots of APs on
channel 6, I can't connect to my AP on channel 1 at all.  (Same
Linksys router for both).  Until we fix the TX Power issues with the
4318, the best you can hope for is to reduce the noise and get
closer to the APs in question.
