You may also need to install pcmciautils or equivalent.  (This is the
new suite of tools that replaces the old pcmcia-cs package for kernels
post-2.6.13 or thereabouts.)

That said I do wonder if bcm43xx currently supports anything except
PCI (and PCI-e, I guess) devices.
