At present, the firmware is the intellectual property of Broadcom, and I doubt 
that any distro is
going to ship it. AFAIK, it will always be the responsibility of the user to 
acquire a binary driver
and install their own firmware. Of course, if the reverse engineering of the 
firmware also succeeds,
then the picture changes.
