Yeah, that works -- at least, it avoids the machine checks. I still
don't get much connectivity though. Just running tcpdump isn't enough to
make it pick up and IPv6 address, and it's missing a lot of incoming
Legacy IP packets too. In fact I don't seem to get _any_ incoming
packets if I bring it up manually; it only works at all when I let
NetworkManager bring it up.

I'll investigate more in a nicer environment when I get home tomorrow --
testing it in the OLPC office sitting underneath a ceiling with about 20
XO machines running as mesh portals probably isn't fair :)
