with "legacy ip address" you mean not using dhclient nor static
configuration, i would just:

modprobe bcm43xx-mac80211
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig SETTINGS
 - in the log ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready -
ip link set wlan0 up

right? or am i supposed to substitute the "ifconfig wlan0 up" with the
ip link command?
i noticed that, if i do not up the card _before_ iwconfig it, it wont
get any association/authentication.
(sorry for theese seemingly stupid questions but i want to provide
useful help and clarity helps, in this)
Also: i cannot test it with tcpdump at home since my fonera - the
router i used earlier to check the delay in ipv6 configuration with
radvd - had a little overheating accident - thanks to lousy fon
hardware - and now the wireless chipset is damaged and won't even
produce beacons...
I will test this as soon as i return to my university, next monday.

as above, will do this - as soon as my doubt is cleared - and post the
results. thanks again.

that would just be great, but at the moment i think it would be pretty
hard for me to get the uni assign me an ipv6 subnet.
i will anyway ask :)

thanks again
