Sorry. I thought that when Ed had his firmware in /lib/firmware, his system couldn't find it. I must have read the dump wrong. The fact remains that you should turn on debugging for bcm43xx. I understand that users want to get minimal logs, but the debugging output is minimal and pretty essential for initial trouble shooting.
